Now that we have retired my spouse and I enjoy traveling.  I’ve seen that some Medicare coverages have strict networks.  Are there any plans that you recommend that would have a more open network?

Yes we do have plans that will accommodate your travel needs.  The plans that you are referring with a strict network are known as Medicare Advantage.  These plans can work really well provided you stay within the network but since you mentioned travel then these plans are probably not a good option.  Instead, you will want to look at a Medicare Supplement.  By taking out a Medicare Supplement you will have Medicare as your primary payer and access to practically every hospital and doctor in the country.  Even if you travel internationally your Medicare Supplement will provide you emergency coverage.

Something else that you may want to consider is moving your prescriptions to national brand pharmacy.  This will allow you to refill your medicines wherever you are in the US.
