Hi Adam. I am turning 65 in January. I am still working part-time. I know I have to sign up for Medicare Part A but do I need Part B or a supplement?

As it is in most cases, it depends.  First, as a part-time employee are you receiving health care from your job?  Most part-time employees do not receive health care so that means you would need to enroll in both Parts A and B of Medicare.  If you are getting health care from your job, does your company employ more than 20 people?  If it employs fewer than 20 people you will need to enroll in both Parts A and B of Medicare.  If your company employs more than 20 people then you have options.  You can maintain that coverage until you decide to retire or you can drop it and then enroll in both Parts A and B of Medicare.

If you do end up enrolling in Medicare A and B then a supplement is option your both option to cover the expenses left over after Medicare gets done paying.  There are also several good Medicare Advantage options including Medicare Savings Accounts offered through LASSO.
